Baltimore, MD - Mar. 16, 2026 - Members of Jewish War Veterans of the United States of America Post 167 gathered at the Pikesville Armory on March 15, 2026, to celebrate the 130th anniversary of the nation’s oldest active veterans organization.

Founded in 1896 by Jewish veterans of the Civil War, the Jewish War Veterans organization was established to demonstrate the patriotism and service of Jewish Americans at a time when their loyalty was sometimes questioned. For more than 130 years, Jewish service members have continued to answer the call in every major conflict involving the United States.

Members of Post 167 marked the occasion with a commemorative cake and a gathering to reflect on the enduring legacy of Jewish service in the United States Armed Forces.

“Celebrating 130 years reminds us that Jewish Americans have always stepped forward to serve our country,” said Dan Berkovitz, Commander of Jewish War Veterans Post 167. “It is a legacy we are proud to continue and encourage.”

The event served as an opportunity for members to recognize the generations of Jewish veterans who have worn the uniform and contributed to the defense of the United States, while reaffirming the organization’s ongoing mission to support veterans and strengthen our community.

Post 167 also recognized the support of its corporate sponsors, including the Pikesville Armory and the Law Offices of Andrew P. Gross dba Guidon Law.

As members gathered to mark the milestone together, the anniversary served as a reminder of the enduring commitment of Jewish veterans to service, patriotism, and community.
