The 15th International Jerusalem Winner Marathon has been postponed to April 17th 2026

Jerusalem, Israel  - Mar. 17, 2026 - The Jerusalem Municipality announced today (March 17) that following a special situation assessment meeting held this morning, led by the Mayor of Jerusalem, Moshe Lion, and Toto CEO Meir Bardugo, together with the Israel Police, marathon production representatives, the Home Front Command, and other relevant professional authorities, it was decided to postpone the 15th International Jerusalem Winner Marathon, originally scheduled for Friday, March 27, to a new date – April 17, 2026.

In light of the complex security situation and in coordination with Home Front Command guidelines, the Jerusalem mayor and professional authorities determined that holding the marathon on its original date would not allow the event to be held safely and in an orderly manner.

The decision was made after weighing all security and public considerations, with a responsibility to ensure the safety of participants, staff, and the general public. Delaying the marathon by a month will allow all runners to prepare and train adequately for the race, which has been challenging so far due to the intensity of the ongoing conflict in Israel.

Participants who have already registered for the marathon will be automatically transferred to the new date. Runners who wish to cancel their participation for a refund or transfer their registration to the 2027 marathon may do so via the marathon website.

Holding the marathon on April 17 is subject to approval by all relevant authorities, with medical teams present and in compliance with all required conditions.

Mayor Lion stated, “The International Jerusalem Winner Marathon is a major and important event for the city, runners in Israel, and the international marathon community, but the safety of participants, staff, and the public comes first. After a thorough assessment, we have decided to postpone the marathon to a new date, April 17th. We thank all partners and participants for their patience and invite all registrants to take part on the rescheduled date.”
