“הִנֵּה מַה־טּוֹב וּמַה־נָּעִים שֶׁבֶת אַחִים גַּם־יָחַד”
“Behold, how good and how pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity.” (Tehillim 133:1)
Charlie Kirk was under no obligation to stand with the Jewish people. Yet when the world turned hostile, when Israel was vilified simply for protecting its children, Charlie stepped forward with clarity and conviction. He never wavered, never hesitated to raise his voice against the rising tide of hatred and falsehood.
Though he was not Jewish, he lived as our brother. His courage became a shield against the storm of slander and violence unleashed after October 7. In moments when others looked away or chose silence, Charlie chose truth. In times when comfort was the easier path, he chose sacrifice.
This bond was not merely rhetorical — it was lived. At CPAC, Charlie joined with my treasured friend Rabbi Yitzchok Tendler and the “Young Jewish Conservatives” organization for Shabbat services. He did not come as a guest on the sidelines but as a joyful participant. He prayed, he cheerfully sang, and he celebrated with us — his presence radiating sincerity and solidarity. Around the Shabbat table, Charlie showed us that the Jewish people are never ever truly alone.
The verse in Mishlei reminds us:
רֵעַ אֹהֵב בְּכָל־עֵת וְאָח לְצָרָה יִוָּלֵד
“A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity” (Tehillim 17:17).
Charlie embodied these hallowed words. Though not of our people, he proved himself our brother in the very moments of greatest trial.
And as the Gemara teaches in Sanhedrin 37a:
כָּל הַמַּצִּיל נֶפֶשׁ אַחַת מִיִּשְׂרָאֵל, מַעֲלֶה עָלָיו הַכָּתוּב כְּאִילּוּ קִיֵּם עוֹלָם מָלֵא
“Whoever saves one life in Israel, it is as if he has sustained an entire world.”
By defending Israel and the Jewish people during her most difficult moment, Charlie helped preserve not just lives, but worlds.
Now his voice has been silenced by violence, another life cut short in the war of ideas that spilled tragically into blood. Yet his legacy endures. We honor him not only for the beliefs he held, but for the risks he took — standing openly with Israel and with Klal Yisroel when it mattered most.
Charlie Kirk will forever be remembered as a man of courage, a defender of truth, and a faithful brother to the Jewish people. His memory will be a blessing for all who cherish justice, faith, freedom and love of Israel.
