Baltimore, MD - Sept. 6, 2025 - Yoshon Season Has Now Officially Begun!
Wheat:
Pasta products, durum and semolina flours - USA products - use Aug 1 as the production cutoff date. This means products lists should be updated to reflect Aug 1 as the last production day that one can assume they are yoshon. Canadian pasta products - no Chodosh concerns yet.
Flours - A number of mills received Chodosh this week. We are working on updating the lists for specific mills. In the meantime, use Sept 2 as the cutoff production date. Flours are typically dated 12-18 months and whole wheat 6-12 months.
Fresh Baked Goods - can be purchased and assumed yoshon until September 15th.
All other packaged wheat products - Can be purchased and assumed yoshon until Oct 1. Will update product lists before then.
Barley & Oats - No Chodosh concerns until at least September 15th. Will update before then.
Rye & Spelt - Always Yoshon in N. America.
