Baltimore, MD - July 13, 2023  - A recent study conducted by WalletHub has ranked Baltimore City as the third most stressed city among 182 cities analyzed, WBAL reports. The study evaluated stress across four dimensions: work, financial, family, and health & safety. Baltimore's stress was primarily concentrated in health and safety concerns. Using a 100-point scale, with 100 representing extreme stress, Baltimore scored 44 points for health and safety stress, 9 points for family stress, 5 points for financial stress, and 5 points for work stress. Overall, Baltimore received a total stress score of 57.43, while the most stressed city, Cleveland, Ohio, scored 62.62 points. The study highlights that stress has been exacerbated by the pandemic, high inflation rates, and increasing homicide rates. The American Psychological Association reports that a significant percentage of Americans are currently stressed about inflation and violence. While some stress can be beneficial, excessive and unmanageable stress can become chronic.
