Baltimore, MD - Jan.27, 2026 - As the Baltimore region digs out from a major winter storm that passed through Maryland last weekend, forecasters are warning that another significant storm could impact the eastern United States in the coming days.

"Chances have increased for impactful snow and/or wind along the immediate East Coast, but uncertainty remains rather high with respect to details," the National Weather Service Prediction Center wrote on Tuesday morning. "Be sure to keep checking for updates."

Cold temperatures are expected to persist in the region through the next week. At the same time, a strong surface low-pressure system is expected to rapidly develop off the southeast coast on Saturday and move into the mid-Atlantic states on Sunday.
