Baltimore, MD - Dec. 24, 2025 - On December 22, 2025, at 7:45 p.m., Baltimore City Police Northwest District patrol officers responded to the 3200 block of West Strathmore Avenue for a report of a carjacking. Shomrim units responded as well.
Once there, officers learned a 64-year-old female was approached by two unidentified male suspects as she exited her vehicle. The suspects assaulted the victim and demanded her vehicle keys. Upon gaining the victim's keys, both suspects entered her vehicle and fled the location. B”H the victim was not physically harmed.

A description of the vehicle and suspects was dispatched to all BPD units city-wide. Shomrim units began searching the area as well. The victim then reported that there was a Samsung Galaxy SmartTag in the car, giving away the car’s exact location. One of the victim’s family members went with police to the pinged address, but the car had already left that location.

The family member then stayed with the officer and continued pinging the SmartTag and the officer continued communicating the updated locations to nearby patrol units. At this time, Councilman Yitzy Schleifer arrived at the scene and communicated with NWD Police commanders to request additional units. In addition, the BPD Foxtrot Helicopter began hovering over the area of the last known ping. A few minutes later, another ping located the car on the 300 block of S. Gilmor Street in the Southwest District. Foxtrot immediately moved in and located the car and directed officers to the exact location. The car then stopped and both suspects bailed out and fled on foot. Officers gave chase and the passenger was arrested moments later. The 15-year-old suspect, who has two previous robbery arrests, was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center, where he was charged with multiple counts of robbery and auto theft. The driver remains at large.

The victim and her family would like to thank and commend Councilman Schleifer and officers and detectives of the BPD Northwestern, Northern and Southwestern Districts as well as Foxtrot for their swift and comprehensive response in locating the car and bringing [at least one of] the perpetrators to justice. Hopefully, their swift actions will serve as a deterrent for any future criminal activity.
